Sadie Shaw Gardner's Obituary
Sadie Shaw Gardner passed away June 3, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Arch Floyd Gardner, as well as her parents Benjamin Franklin Shaw and Bertha Hodges Shaw, and her three sisters Kathron Hightower, Frances Moore, Adelaide Bosso, and her brother B.F. Shaw. Sadie is survived by her two sons, M.F. “Buck” Gardner (Marlene) and Archie F. Gardner, her three grandchildren, Bradley Gardner, Elaine Gardner, and Patrick Gardner (Anna), and her two great-grandchildren, P.J. and Benjamin, and her beloved care giver Delores Wynn, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and hundreds of students. Sadie was born and raised in Tallahassee. Sadie attended Florida State College for Women, graduating in 1941. In 1949, Sadie Shaw married the love of her life, Arch Floyd Gardner and moved to Aubury, Arkansas where Sadie taught school. The Gardner’s moved to Memphis, where Arch joined Sadie in the teaching profession. They retired in 1980 and moved to Mexico Beach, Florida into a home they built with their own hands. Throughout these many years, Sadie’s love of life never waned. Her delightful sense of humor stayed intact. The Lord God made a good daughter in Sadie Shaw Gardner, and now the Lord has taken her home. Amen. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Jun e 8 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Those who wish to may make a donation to a charity of the donor’s choice.
