S. Don Carroll's Obituary
Don Carroll, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by his family. After a courageous 15-month battle with illness, he found solace in the comfort of his home under the care of Home Hospice.
Born on February 4, 1937, in Sardis, Tennessee, Don attended Bartlett High School and Georgia Tech. He met and married the love of his life, Stella Carroll, and their enduring marriage spanned over 65 years. Don was employed at Proctor and Gamble as an Engineer, capping his career at Buckeye Cellulose in Memphis. His talents extended beyond his professional pursuits; he was a creative visionary who designed three of their homes and even built two sports cars. In retirement, Don and Stella embarked on extensive travels, exploring the country in their motorhome.
Don and Stella were deeply committed to their faith and generously gave their time to Christ the King Lutheran Church,where Don served as an Elder.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Ann Carroll, and his brother, Bob Carroll. He is survived by his loving wife, Stella; their two daughters, Sherry Steiner of Reston, Virginia, and Deborah Mudry of Cordova, Tennessee; and their five grandchildren: Clara and Julia Steiner, Anna, Adam, and Luke Sienkiewicz.
A celebration of Don's life will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5296 Park Ave., Memphis TN 38119 beginning at 1:00 PM with a visitation, followed by the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Don's memory to Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5296 Park Ave., Memphis, TN 38119.
