Ruth Louise Nichols Barnes' Obituary
Ruth Louise Nichols Barnes, age 93, passed away on August 10, 2018.She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Alease Nichols, her husband, Commander William Blythe Barnes, a son, William Howard Barnes, and a grandson, David Randolph Campbell.She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, August 3, 1925, and graduated from Southside High School. During her husband’s service in the Navy, she lived in several other states, including California, New Jersey and Washington DC.Following her husband’s death she returned to Memphis. She retired from Shelby County Veteran’s Services and was a long time member of Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Alease Barnes Campbell and Laurence Barrett Campbell, Winter Springs, FL, daughter-in-law, Janice Bryant Barnes, Germantown, TN, grandchildren, Wendy Barnes McEntee, Richmond, VA, and William (Bill) Blythe Barnes, Cordova, TN, and great-grandchildren Ellyn McEntee and Taylor Campbell.The funeral service and interment will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
