Ruth A. Moore's Obituary
Ruth Anna Moore passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2017 in Germantown, TN at the age of 95. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother who devoted herself to being a homemaker.Ruth was born on April 27, 1922 in Marion, Indiana to James and Jessie McCallum. The family moved to Dunbar, West Virginia, where she grew up and graduated high school. Ruth married her husband, John William Moore, Sr. on December 18, 1941 in Charleston, WV. They were married for 59 happy years.Ruth was preceded in death by her parents James and Jessie McCallum; her husband John Moore; her brother Jamsie McCallum; and her sisters Mildred McCallum, Ada Gwinn, Sue Hutchison, Elizabeth Davis, Jeanette Murphy, and Helen McCallum.Ruth is survived by her children Anna Corey of Memphis, TN; John William Moore, Jr. and his wife, Beverly of Martinsburg, WV; and David Moore and his wife, Sandy of San Antonio, TX.She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Shannon Hall and her husband Mike of Olive Branch, MS; Jennifer Shepherd and her husband Stanley of Hernando, MS; Matthew Moore and his wife Jennifer of Martinsburg, WV; Lee Ann Corey of Memphis, TN; Jamie Goodwin and her husband Todd of San Antonio, TX; Penelope Soto of San Antonio, TX; Jonathan Moore of San Antonio, TX; and Dawn Moore of Nashville, TN.Her 18 great grandchildren she leaves are: Andrew Hall, of Olive Branch, MS; Aaron Hall and his wife Kacie of Germantown, TN; Amber Hall of Olive Branch, MS; Nicholas Shepherd of Pensacola, FL; Sarah Shepherd of Cleveland, MS; Mary Shepherd of Hernando, MS; Kailyn Matthews of Memphis, TN; Isaac Soto, Isabell Soto, Nicholas Soto, Nathan Soto, Preston Soto, Jacob Soto, Celestino Moore, and Karen Goodwin all of San Antonio, TX; Trevor Moore, Brycen Moore, and Emma Moore from Martinsburg, WV.She leaves 3 great, great grandchildren: Alexis Shepherd and Emily Shepherd of San Diego, CA, Connor Hall of Olive Branch, MS and Khavari Matthews of Memphis, TN. Ruth has numerous loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives she leaves. She also has many friends around the world she has made in her travels over the years.Ruth’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery at 5668 Poplar Avenue Memphis, TN 38119. Visitation will commence from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The funeral service will take place at 11:30 with the burial immediately following. Ann Apple from Idlewild Presbyterian will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruth Anna Moore’s life.
