Ruth Mann's Obituary
Ruth Annette Jones Mann, 90, died Saturday, March 26, 2016. Known as simply “Ruth” or “Anne”, she was born on January 26, 1926 and raised in Hickory Flat, Mississippi. Her parents were Brasca Sweeden and Otto Jones and she graduated from Hickory Flat High School. In November 1947, she married Lealon C. Mann, establishing their life together in Memphis, Tennessee. She was employed by Continental Can and then as one of the first employees of Kellogg’s Memphis plant, where she worked until her retirement. Ruth was a former member of Lamar Heights Baptist Church and a current member of Cherry Road Baptist Church. Anne was a life long Christian and continued her search of Bible knowledge until her health declined in 2006. Church friends became her family. Ruth Annette loved her family and friends deeply–keeping in touch with all her Mississippi relatives was very important to her. Holidays and birthdays meant cooking for days beforehand to make sure there were enough deviled eggs, vegetables, cakes, and pies to give everyone their fill. She was known for her smile. Mann. She is survived by her son, Jimmy C. Mann (Leslie); two grandsons, Brian J. Mann (Melissa) and their children, Dalton and Brooke and Clifton R. Mann (Andrea) and their son-to-be, Tucker. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. and followed by funeral services at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Flowers are welcome or a memorial donation may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
