Ruth Austin's Obituary
Ruth Sykes Austin went to be with the Lord July 21, 2014. She was born on September 22, 1919 to Walter and Lillie Mae Boyd in New Albany, MS. Ruth was married to Arthur G. Sykes for 50 years. After Arthur passed away she was happily married to Enis Austin. Ruth was the loving and caring Mother of Arty Sykes Sr, a loving Grandmother to Arty Sykes, Jr and Stacy Sykes and great-grandmother to Kaitlyn Sykes. Ruth’s second marriage extended her loving and caring family circle to include Larry and Barbara Austin and children Nancy and Steven Patterson, Michael and Patricia Austin and great grandchildren Dean and David Patterson and Helen Austin. Ruth and Enis loved to travel and they made many wonderful trips . They also liked to dance and were members of the Chickasaw Country Club, Summit Club and the Crescent Club. Ruth was alsoa long time member of the Beethoven Club. She was a Charter member of the Loyalty Class at Rebecca United Methodist Church and also served as the President of U.M.W. She was preceeded in death by two sisters Raymoth Boyd Henderson and Ruby Boyd, as well as two brothers Troy Boyd and Ellis Boyd. She has one surving brother Curtis Boyd of Memphis and well as a niece Yvonne Henderson Medlin of Olive Branch, MS. Ruth enjoyed cooking for her family. She said the best part of life was family, church and friends.Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 am on Thursday, July 24, 2014 with Graveside service to follow.
