Russell Santo Messina, 67, died Sunday, September 6, 2009 at his Olive Branch, MS residence.A communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Mr. Messina was a retired accountant for Taylor Forge, and had worked 10 years as a clerk for Office Depot since his retirement. He loved fishing, gardening, feeding the ducks and geese. But his great love was his family and grandkids. During their younger years he devoted himself to the kid’s Cub Scouts and Little League.He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Lynn Messina Galanos.Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Sandra Messina, and 6 children, Walter Mickiewicz (Evamarie), Michael Messina, Daniel Mickiewicz (Gina), Christine Messina Burr (Keith), Michelle Messina Reynolds (Sam), and Bob Messina (Lauren), and 3 siblings, Sandra McCallion, Kenneth Messina (Jo Anne), and Deborah Beringer (Jim), 15 grandchildren, Tony, Josh, Ian, Nicky, Mandy, Austin, Meagan, Timothy, Kyle, Dani, Alexis, Lynzeigh, Matthew, Christian, and Jacob, and one great granddaughter, Desirae Rose.Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home in the Fireside Chapel. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in the mausoleum.The family requests that should flowers be sent, outdoor plants be selected so each child may have a remembrance that will continue to live.
