Ruby M. Woods' Obituary
Ruby M. Woods, born on August 7, 1928, in Carroll County, TN, passed away peacefully at home in Jackson, TN, on June 15, 2024, at the age of 95.
Ruby was preceded in death by her brothers George Murray, Gene Murray, Roy Murray, Charles Murray her sister Etta Mae McArthur, her son Freddy Woods, and her beloved husband Fred A. Woods.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Peggy Woods, her two granddaughters Kelly Brandon (Warren Brandon) and Kim Walter (Neil Walter), and eight great-grandchildren: Ella Brandon, Emory Brandon, Silas Walter, Ezra Walter, Marigold Walter, Beau Brandon, Simeon Walter, and Jairus Walter.
Ruby graduated from Trezvant High School in 1946. She married Fred Woods and was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who spent many years caring for her son and later helping with her granddaughters. Together with Fred, she created a loving home, always welcoming friends and neighbors and serving those around them in any way they could. Ruby held jobs at the telephone company and Hancock Fabrics and was a member of the White Station Church of Christ in Memphis. She also attended church in Atwood, Milan, and Medina while growing up. She and Fred enjoyed meeting regularly and traveling with the Kellogg Retiree Club. She was a member of the retirement communities at both Charter and Jackson Meadows in Jackson, TN.
Ruby was a talented homemaker and seamstress. She was happiest when taking care of those around her. Her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2024 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery in Memphis, TN. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
