Ruby Glenn's Obituary
Ruby Eva Glenn was born near Searcy, Arkansas in 1909 to a large family. She had 3 brothers and 4 sisters. She was the second oldest to her elder sister. They lived on a farm where they raised crops and livestock to eat. They survived The Great Depression and had a wonderful family bond among the sisters and brothers that carried them through hard times. She eventually moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she met her husband Perry Milton Wise. They married and moved to Weatherford, Texas where her only child, Charles Wayne Wise was born. They moved from Weatherford to Grapevine to the popular red rock house and enjoyed over 40 years of happiness in the country. She entertained and cooked many a meal for her family that came to visit. Eventually they built a new brick house next door where they spent their entire life together. She lost her first husband to illness and was fortunate to remarry Tommy Glenn and move to Colleyville, Texas. They enjoyed traveling and fishing and were very skilled gardeners with a huge garden they maintained for over 20 years. After Tommy’s death, she moved back to Memphis, Tennessee to be near her brothers and sisters who she maintained a very close relationship over the years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a very active social life with her sisters and brothers throughout Memphis. She was famous for her homemade pies and fried chicken which she had mastered cooking over 70 years. She was very independent and maintained her driver’s license and drove herself until she was 102 years old. The last two years of her life she spent at The King’s Daughters and Sons Home where she made wonderful friends. She was an inspiration not only to the residents and her friends, but to the staff and visitors who had the privilege of meeting and speaking with her. She was so proud of her family and so grateful when they visited her. She was generous with her time and was very compassionate toward her family and friends. She was a devoted Christian all of her life and a faithful member of The Church of Christ for over 75 years. Ruby left this world on December 25, 2016 and met her Lord on the most special day of the year. She was 107 years old and four months. She is survived by three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm followed by funeral services, Friday, December 30, at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
