Royce Long's Obituary
Royce Long, of Memphis, TN., died at the Regional Medical Center on November 3, 2009. He was born on February 23, 1933 in Dido (Choctaw County), MS. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University in 1959 receiving a degree in Business, and was an Army veteran serving with the 5th Army Division. While he was in college he lettered in all sports, football, basketball and baseball, and he continued with these sports while in the Army. He had a long career in the Cotton Industry selling and building Lummus Cotton Gins in the Mid South area for over 25 years.He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes Shaw and James “Jimmy” Long; brothers, J.N. Long, John A. Long and sister, Juanita Higginbotham. Royce is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley Long; brother, Jimmy Long; daughters, Aimee Long and husband Ronny Clift, Anna Long and husband Brian Rickman; sons, David and wife Linda Huffman, Rick Huffman and seven grandchildren.Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home Friday, November 6, 2009 from 6-8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to any foundation for Fighting Blindness or charity of the donor’s choice.
