It was a lucky day for me the day I picked out a little house on St. Louis Ave not knowing then that my neighbor of more than 25 years would become such a dear friend to me and the closest thing to a grandmother that my boys would have. They so loved going over to your house after school. You shared your love of England and knights and Shakespeare; Bern his knowledge of American history and his stamp collection-and then root beer and oreos all around. I loved our afternoon chats over tea that continued despite the distance. How you enriched our lives, how blessed we were with your love. You will forever be in ours hearts. Rest easy with your Bern.
May 17th 2019 James & Marsyl (Mitz) Lynch, I am James Lynch, nephew to my aunt rose. I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisc. Rose was 8 yrs older than myself. She was like a sister to me. She was brilliant, funny, and wonderful to be with. She loved Shakespeare. I enjoyed listening to her stories especially of England. I can understand why she was a teacher. Through the years , our 3 sons Christopher, Michael, and Joseph got to know their aunt Rose. She was an inspiration to our family and all who knew her. We all loved her very much. She will be very sadly missed.
I’m so sorry for your loss. May the God of comfort give you peace and the strength to endure through such a difficult time (Revelation 21:3,4). Again, my condolences to your family.
I will always lovingly remember my dear Auntie Rose. In addition to being my god mother, she was my favorite Aunt. I have fond childhood memories or her visits and on bath nights she would read to us and also give us some kind of wonderful candy. I think any love of literature and reading I have was fostered by those evenings. Two favorite books she read included ‘Wind in the Willows’ and ‘Many Moons’.Other memories include trips to Chicago on the train, visits to toy stores, special gifts, dinner at the Berghoff…on and on….what a brilliant teacher and writer who always inspired…I will miss you so much, Auntie Rose.
“Poets and saints are way ahead of all the theologians. They really appreciate ALL of life. My guess? Love – between people or the creatures God gave us to care for – goes on and on.” Letter to Rosemary’s sister Jane, February 21, 2006Our prayer for all of Rose’s family and friends is that we all learn to dwell in that love that goes on and on, that we turn to God who will indeed, in time, wipe away all of our tears and fill our hearts with hope.
