Rose Higginbothom's Obituary
Rose Elizabeth Blackmon Higginbothom, 85, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on December 7, 2009 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 22, 1924, in Dothan, Alabama. She spent her school-age years living in Pensacola, FL and starred as the lead role in numerous plays into her adult years. Rose was selected as Beta Sigma Phi’s “Woman of the Year” for the state of Arkansas in 1958. Mrs. Higginbothom was a member of Germantown Baptist Church.How she shall be missed and what a testimony her life was to many as she fought the disease with unwavering determination each moment of every day. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kurt Tauer and the entire West Clinic staff for the wonderful care they gave to Rose. Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Captain and Clinora Blackmon; two brothers, T.H. Blackmon and John Edwin Blackmon; a sister, Marie Blackmon McLeod, all of Pensacola, FL.Rose is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Ed Higginbothom; her two daughters and (sons-in-laws) Susan H. Robertson, (Len) of Arlington, TX and Molly H. Plunk (Bob) of Germantown, five grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsay, Melissa, Whitney and Drew; and four great-grandchildren, Cooper, Tatum, Conley and Emma Reese.
