Rose Marie Divine's Obituary
Rose Marie Divine, born October 19, 1931 in Shelby, Mississippi, peacefully made her way to heaven on Monday, February 12, 2018. Rose Marie, better known as “Mama Rose” or “Mimi”, leaves her three children, Jackie Divine -Graves, Dawna Divine-Boone, and Hal Hamilton Divine IV; her only grandchild, Caroline Rose Graves; her five siblings, Josephine Schilling, Jeanette Getz, Pauline Burroughs, Robert Olivi and Henry “Tippy” Olivi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Henry Olivi; siblings, Henry Olivi, John Olivi, Joe Olivi, Angelina Butler, and Louise Ann Bosi; and her beloved husband, Hal Hamilton Divine III. Rose Marie grew up in the Mississippi Delta where she was the oldest of 11 children. Her father, Henry Olivi, was from Ancona, Italy and her mother, Lena Reginelli, was from Lake Village, Arkansas. Rose Marie attended Shelby High, and later moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she worked at the Holiday Inn and then C&I Bank, who she represented in the 1956 Cotton Carnival. She had fond memories of working in the Sterick Building. Rose Marie went on to meet her husband, Hal Hamilton Divine III, at age 23 on a blind date, where he captured her heart for a lifetime. Rose Marie was a devoted mother, wife, loving sister, an admirable grandmother and dear friend. Rose Marie never met a stranger, as she was quick to befriend anyone who crossed her path-young or old. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, feeding and watching birds, spending time with loved ones, and attending services at St. Louis Church. She had quite the green thumb from growing up on a farm, as she could grow just about anything. Other pastimes included watching Memphis Tigers football and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, as her husband was once a part of those teams. The visitation will be held Wednesday, February 14 at 5:00-7:00 p.m, and the Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Park. Funeral services will held at St. Louis Church on Thursday, February 15 at 1:30 p.m. with graveside service to follow at Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Poor Clare Monastery or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.Rose Marie Divine’s Tribute Slideshow may be viewed here: https://www.tributeslides.com/tributes/show/64TZGWLH7B2KLG8D
