Roscoe Adams Feild's Obituary
Roscoe Adams Feild, 84, Born October 26, 1931, in Memphis Tennessee to Roscoe Adams Feilld and Georgia Bledsoe Feild. He attended Christian Brothers College for High School, known as “CBC.” He attended Southwestern at Memphis, as a proud member of the classes of 1952 and 1953, graduating in three years. He honorably served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Guam. He graduated from UT Law School, and was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1956. He had an active practice in the courts of Memphis and Shelby County for 60 years. He had a cabin on Whapeton Hill in Hardy Arkansas, where he spent many weekends with his friends and family. Hardy was a special place to him. He loved gardening, reading, writing, travel, rocks, his family and friends and the Spring River. He was a life-long member of Idlewild Presbyterian Church, where he served as Deacon, Elder and Trustee. He spent many years as the Sunday school teacher for High School and College aged students. He was a closet Catholic. He spent many weekends at the Manresa Jesuit Retreat Center in Louisiana, for prayerful, silent weekends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Ellen Feild Todd. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane Porter Feild, his brother and sister in law, Dr. James Rodney Feild and Dr. Glenda Feild, Porter and Wendy Feild, Eddie, Ellen and Harry Feild, John, Mary Porter and Adams Feild. Services will be Thursday January 21 at 1 pm at Idlewild Presbyterian Church, with burial at Morning Sun Cemetery. Friends are invited to celebrate his life Wednesday January 20, at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Feild home. Memorials may be sent to Idlewild Presbyterian Church or the Ellen Feild Todd Fund at St. Mary’s Episcopal School.
