Ronald Shelton Terrry's Obituary
Ronald Shelton Terry passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital after an extended illness. He was born on September 3, 1936, in Warren, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Fayette County High School (class of 1954).
After graduation, he was a truck driver and worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation as a surveyor. In 1958, he enlisted in the US Army, where he served as a surveyor and construction foreman until his discharge in1961. In May 1961, he married Joyce Lowery and went to work for J. Paul Nickle Construction Company working on a section of 1-40 near Lexington, TN. In 1963, he went to work for S&W Construction Company. During these years, he worked across the Southeast building various sections of the interstate system, runways at the Memphis airport, as well as other industrial facilities. In 1970, he started working at G&R Construction in the Memphis area doing site work. In 1974, he started his own construction business, Ronald S. Terry Construction Company, performing site work for numerous and varied projects in the Memphis area.
Ronald enjoyed attending horse races in Hot Springs, driving the boat for the kids to ski and tube behind, reading, watching John Wayne movies, and cheering on the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Ronald is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Lowery Terry, and son, Ronald Trent Terry. He is survived by his son, Jefferson Shelton Terry (Julie); granddaughter, Brooke Elana Terry; and grandson, Benjamin Shelton Terry. Visitation will be 12:00 noon Friday, November 15, 2024, with service to follow at 1:00 Pm Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jude Research Hospital.
