Ronald D. Schmied's Obituary
Ronald D. Schmied, 85, passed away April 8, 2016. As a civil engineer, he contributed to the design of the Indiana Toll Road and worked world-wide with the engineering firms of Harland Bartholomew & Associates, William S. Pollard Consultants, and Espy Huston & Associates. Mr. Schmied served as City Engineer/City Planner for the City of Germantown from 1980 – 1989 remaining professionally active for several more years. He was a life-long learner with interests in photography, electronics, computers and books. Mr. Schmied was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Joan; his daughter, Susanne Stiles; grandson Isiais; and brother Walter. He is survived by 3 daughters, Diana Schmied (Wade Morgan), Lori Schmied (Karl Jost), and Joanna Deller; grandchildren, Rhiann, Loren, Hannah, Cree, Katie, Emily, and Julia; and great-grandchildren, Aydan, Ariyana, and Kemper. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
