Ronald Wayne (Ronnie) Stevens' Obituary
Ronald Wayne (Ronnie) Stevens, 67, of Memphis passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011 after a long illness. Ronnie was a native Memphian born on October 9, 1943. He developed his love for music while playing the clarinet in the school band at Snowden Junior High School and Central High School. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. After graduation Ronnie returned to Memphis to become President of Stevens Electric Co., Inc. a family owned business. He ran the business along with his two brothers, Frank W. Stevens, Jr. and Robert M. Stevens. Ronnie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his cabin at Pickwick. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his love for his family, his strong faith and his willingness to help anyone in need. Ronnie was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Frank W. Stevens, and his brother, Robert Marion Stevens. Ronnie is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Glenda Woods Stevens; two sons, Kevin Wayne Stevens and wife, Sandy and Kenneth Martin Stevens and wife Sara all of Memphis. He leaves two precious grandchildren, Connor Martin Stevens and Parker Anne Stevens. They brought immense joy into his life. Ronnie also leaves two sisters, Jane Melton (Glendell) of Memphis and Linda Sue Scott of Grand Junction, TN and one brother, Frank W. Stevens, Jr. (Judy) of Memphis. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Sunday June 12, 2011 and a funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday June 13, 2011 both at Memorial Park Funeral Home-Memphis with the interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery-Memphis.
