I was saddened to learn today of the passing of Roger MacDonald. We were classmates at Butler High School, in Butler, New Jersey. We marched together for several year in the color guard for the school’s band and at periodic school assemblies. He took his duties on the color guard seriously and always appeared in a well-appointed uniform. I remembered that Roger sat across from me in an art class we both enjoyed We often offered friendly critiques of each other’s work and I remember that Roger always had a positive comment. I regret that we lost contact after high school as we went our separate ways, but I will always be grateful for his kind friendship.
