Rodney Wayne Wilkinson's Obituary
Rodney Wayne Wilkinson was born June 27, 1947 in Fulton, Kentucky. He was the son of Ray E. and Sara A. Wilkinson. Rodney was a special education student in the Memphis School system. He was the first in Memphis and Shelby County to graduate with a special diploma. Rodney then worked for more than forty years at the Sheltered Occupational Workshop in Memphis. This was a new program that was started with the efforts of Rodney’s father. Rodney followed Christ in baptism in June 1964 and was a member of Eudora Baptist Church in Memphis. He most recently attended West Jackson Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee. Rodney was an outgoing man, always smiling and greeting people. He loved wresting, especially watching Jerry Lawler. He enjoyed country music and was particularly fond of Johnny Cash, whom he met on several occasions. Rodney leaves his sister, Pat Moyers and husband, Chris of Jackson, Tennessee and his sister, Mary Little and husband, Al, of Green Cove Springs, Florida who cherish his love and will miss his smile. He also leaves two nephews, Matthew Little and Bryan Moyers and the caregivers, who provided excellent care and love for the past several years. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. and funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 26 at Memorial park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
