Rodney K. Eddins' Obituary
Rodney Keith Eddins, 57, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Methodist (South) Hospital – Memphis, TN. Eddins, was born February 27, 1959 in Memphis, TN to the late Ripley and Amelia Harris Eddins. He was a member of Hickory Hill Baptist Church and a 1977 graduate of Mitchell High School. He furthered his education by attending Fisk University where he was very active in sports. He later enlisted in the United State Air Force where he served eight years and began his calling as a fireman. Rodney continued his passion and love of service by becoming a member of the Memphis Fire Department where he served as a longtime Memphis Firefighter for 30 years. He was a member of the Black Pioneers and Local 1784. Rodney loved working out, hunting and playing sports. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He touched all that came in contact with him. He loved to serve! Rodney is survived by his wife, Leveria Denise Eddins; one daughter, Kanisha Dawson(Tony)-Indianapolis, IN; one step-daughter, Ashley Jolly-Memphis, TN; one step-son, Brian Jolly-Memphis, TN; one sister, Linda Blanchard – Memphis, TN; one grandchild – Sara Doyne.Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 5 – 8:00 p.m. at Bellevue Baptist Church, 2000 Appling Road, Cordova, TN. Services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 a. m., at Bellevue Baptist Church where Pastor Larry Eddins will be officiating.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119.
