I had the pleasure of meeting “MUGGS” at Germantown Country Club. We were both late afternoon work on your game guys. We talked a lot and I always looked forward to sharing time with him. He is a one of a kind that we have few of…yes The Greatest Generation. I will miss seeing him over on #9 putting and chipping. Yes Sir…he could walk the walk. Every time I saw Mr. Coffman he made me smile. He was one of the finest men I have ever known. I will miss his happy, smiling face and his humor. We were so very blessed to have known him. I spent 25 years sitting just outside his office at Memphis Compress. Robin mentored me in the cotton business. He taught me so much, & was like a father to me. To Tommie Faye, Kristi, Robin, Jim, Judy and the rest of the family, I am so very sorry for your loss. He was a great man and loved by so many. I pray for peace and comfort for you. I have know Muggs since he was 10 years old and I was 11, when we started playing baseball together. We played together all the way through college and he as a member of our wedding party when Sheila and I were married in 1956. One would be hard put to find a better friend, teammate or man better than Muggs. I talked with him on the phone only two or three weeks before his depth, and, in typical fashion for him, he made absolutely no mention of his illness. Our sympathies and prayers go to his family and friends. We would love to be at his visitation and service, but my wife’s just won’t allow it.
