Roberta B. Brugge's Obituary
Roberta Brugge died on June 30, 2015. She was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on August 26, 1934, the daughter of Harry Williams and Virginia Black Williams. She graduated from Pocahontas High and attended Arkansas State. Roberta left college to marry and begin a family with her husband, Martin Brugge, in Memphis in 1954. They moved from Memphis to east Tennessee and lived in Farragut (then Concord) for 13 years where she was active in the Library, PTA and Vacation Bible School. The family moved to Germantown in 1973, where she has been active in the English Meadows Garden Club for the past 25 years. She worked for many years at TBC as executive assistant in the sales department. In retirement she worked part-time for the Stuttering Foundation. She is survived by her husband Martin Brugge and three children: Michael (with wife Celia King Brugge), Robin Brugge, and Dixie B. Strausser (with her husband Kurt). Her favorite activity was entertaining her six grandchildren at her home: Martin and John Brugge (wife Christine Pick Brugge), Tara and Marcus Lewis, and Kyle and Kaylyn Strausser. Special friends include niece Dorothy Harmon Hooper; Priscilla Chik and Morgan Benson. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 3, from 1:30 – 2:30 pm followed by funeral services at Memorial Park Funeral Home.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall”
