Robert Sidney Williams' Obituary
Robert Sidney Williams, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 at the Grand Boulevard Health Center on March 19, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born on November 25, 1919 in Shreveport, LA to the late Robert Douglas Williams and Lillian Welch Williams. Bob graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA and Centenary College. He proudly served his country in World War II, enlisting in the Navy at the Pensacola NAS in 1942. Bob met and married his wife Elizabeth Haughton-James in Montego Bay, Jamaica on May 17, 1949. Bob worked as a mechanical engineer for Firestone Co for 36 years. He was a pilot and amateur radio operator K4UFE He moved to Destin, FL in 2004 to be closer to his eldest daughter. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth. He is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Williams Hattaway (George ) of Destin, FL, Harriet Williams (Russell Lynn Walker) of Knoxville, TN and a brother, Logan Williams (Sue) of Memphis, TN. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and be followed by funeral services at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 25 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
