Robert Lee Whipple's Obituary
Robert Lee Whipple, Jr., 78, of Germantown, died Monday, November 16, 2009. Mr. Whipple was a personnel recruiter and owner of Lee Whipple Personnel Service before his retirement in 1993. He was a very active member of the community, participating in the Memphis Central Rotary Club, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, The Memphis Chamber of Commerce, the Sales Executives Club of Memphis and the Marine Air Corp Reserves.He is survived by his wife Shirley Morris, who was his sweetheart for 7 years prior to their marriage of 26 years. The couple attended Central Church. Also surviving are 4 children, Janie Lynne Wilhoit (Trip) of Lizella, GA; Cynthia Anne Kuykendall (Jack) of Plano, TX; Ruth Marie Knote of Cordova; and Dennis Robert Lee Whipple (Betsy) of Germantown; a sister Miriam Leffler (Ray) of Memphis; a brother, Dan Whipple (Diane) of Memphis; and a sister-in-law, Barbara “Babs” Whipple of Memphis; 9 grandchildren, Mindy Jones (Girard), Brooke Williams (Brad), Daniel Hawkins, Christy Kuykendall, Rachel Kuykendall, Kathryn Kuykendall, Andrew Knote, Laura Knote, and Abby Whipple. Mr. Whipple was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Ruth Murden Whipple, his brother, Jim Whipple, and former wife Carlee Chester Whipple.A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 4:00 at Memorial Park Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service.
