Robert Verity's Obituary
ROBERT THOMAS VERITY, born on November 11, 1942 to Helen and Robert Treadwell Verity in Freeport, NY, died November 22, 2010. He was 68. Visitation will be Sunday, November 28 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. He leaves his wife, Penny Verity; his Seeing Eye dog, Ophelia; wife’s Seeing Eye dog, Inari, and their pet cat, Callie. He has nieces, nephew and cousins spread throughout the US; also has many, many friends throughout the US, one particularly close friend of many years, Carmen Greico, who lives on Long Island, NY. Mr. Verity was a music major at Ithaca College in New York, retired from Northrope Grumann on Long Island, NY as a Program Systems Analyst and was also an analyst for Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Pittsburgh, PA. He was active in the American Council of the Blind and served as president of the Memphis Council of the Blind; willing to help people with their computer problems no matter who they were or where they were, made many friends he never met in person by this act of generosity of his knowledge. He was loved and respected by all. Started using dogs from the Seeing Eye in 1962 and had a total of 6 dogs over 48 years of usage. Donations to: The Seeing Eye, Inc., P.O.
