Robert George Tatom Jr.'s Obituary
Robert G. Tatom, Jr went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening July 6, 2024, after a short illness.
He was born March 3, 1949 in Memphis, TN to Robert G Tatom and Martha Ann Shows. Bobby attended Southside and graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1967. After graduation he served 4 years in the United States Navy and did most of his time in Puerto Rico. Upon returning to the states Bobby attended State Technical Institute and then Memphis State University where he graduated in 1979. He spent most of his career with the state of Tennessee as an investigator in the Food Stamp office. Bobby loved his family and friends. He loved sports, photography and was a huge Elvis fan. One of the highlights of his year was Elvis weeks in January and August. He had the same group of Elvis friends from all over the US that he hung out with for the events for over 40 years.
He was of the Methodist faith and attended Heartsong United Methodist Church in Cordova for a number of years.
Bobby always had a smile on his face. He loved meeting new people. He genuinely cared about other people and was always giving of himself to make others happy.
He was most proud of his son, Christopher, who was the apple of his dad’s eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his older sister Virginia (Ginger) Tatom. Those who will carry on his memory include his son Christopher Tatom and his extended family and friends.
His visitation will be held form 12:00 p.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 12th, 2024 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Funeral Cemetery East, 2440 Whitten Rd., Memphis TN 38133.
