Robert Isaac Stacey's Obituary
Robert Isaac Stacey entered the presence of his Savior on May 27, 2023. He was born on December 10, 1934, to James Bert and Virginia Stacey in the Taylortown community of White Bluff, TN. His first grade
Classroom was also his first church. Taylortown Church of Christ. He loved reading, designing buildings,
And traveling. He learned to work in various farms with his father and beloved Native American maternal grandfather with whom he lived with during WWII.
He later lived in Nashville and Memphis where he attended Humes High School, University of Memphis,
And completed the LLB degree from Memphis school of law (U of M) in 1955. Bob loved to work and took his first real job at age 13, at a movie theatre in downtown Memphis. He later worked at the Orpheum (Malco) theatre and sold men’s clothing & hats and as a part time night DJ in school. His main jobs consisted of being in charge of Code enforcement in the mid-late 1950’s and the legal advisor to the Shelby County land use Control Board until his retirement. Bob also found and cofounded many businesses most notably Stacy Map Co/Handy map of Memphis, Nashville and DeSoto, MS.
Bob served in the US Marine Corp reserve and the US Army reserve. In 1958, he married the love of his life Grethel Sue Galey. They had twin sons Robert and James Kenneth. James died shortly after birth. Bob was the oldest of twelve children. He predeceased by his mother Virginia Meadow Stacey, and his father James Bert Stacey. The siblings that predeceased him were Billy Fay, and Burt Kenneth, (Cybil) and sisters Betty Ruth, Mildred, and Sandra Stacey Morris. Bob is survived by a brother Larry A. Stacey (Nancy) of Big Spring, TX., Carolyn Birky, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lois Stacey, Linda Walters (Howard) and Felda Stacey, all of Nashville, TN.
He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews including Mrs. Cindy Romines who did so many wonderful things for him and his family. Also an very special thanks with love to the Kearney family, especially Stanley. Also living is his son Robert Darrell and daughter-in-law Jeanie of Memphis, TN.
