Robert Peura's Obituary
Robert Arthur Peura, 79, passed away April 14, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Memphis. He was born July 5, 1931 in Hancock, MI to Willard and Martha Peura. Mr. Peura served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict as a helicopter mechanic. In 1987, he relocated to Memphis with IBM and retired in 1991 after 31 years. He was a faithful member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. For 12 years, he dedicated his time to working on the church’s webpage–that was his mission. Mr. Peura also served on the Visitation Committee and worked with the Nehemiah’s. He enjoyed astronomy and building radio-controlled air planes. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha; daughter, Valerie Rosmarin (Joe); sons, Mark, Michael (Katie), Thomas, and Danny; grandchildren, Casey Brewer (Paul), Megan, Rikk, Tyler, Natalie, Cole, and Amelia; brother, Will Peura (Debbie); brother-in-law, Al Skinkle; and sister-in-law, Gail Peura. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Peura; and sister, Nancy Skinkle. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m until service time at 12 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Burial with graveside services will be held at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Christ the King Lutheran Church School, the Church Health Center, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
