Robert T. Owen's Obituary
Robert Titus Owen (Bob), 85, of Germantown, TN was surrounded by his wife and daughters singing hymns to him as he was called home to be with the Lord on June 20th, 2018. He was born in Bronxville, NY and grew up in East Williston, on Long Island, NY.Bob graduated from Mount Hermon School in MA. He was senior class president and excelled as a pole vaulter. He attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a degree in Business. Also, he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and was President his senior year. He continued his pole vaulting and set records in track meets in England and Ireland.Bob has celebrated 63 years of marriage with the love of his life, Nancy Louise Wagaman from Hagerstown, MD. They lived for two years in Karlsruhe, Germany while Bob served in the Army. He and Nancy came to Memphis in 1971 through a job transfer with NBC bank. It was here they raised their three daughters. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his brother William Post Owen and his daughters Karin Hofstetter (Larry), Wendy Smith (Philip), and Dana Gray (Michael). He is also survived by six grandchildren Carter Graves, Owen Graves, Andrew Smith, Benjamin Smith, Hannah Gray and Abigail Gray who lovingly called him Pops. He loved his grandchildren and was SO PROUD of all of them. His humor, dry wit, love, thoughtfulness, and generosity brought much joy to his family and friends.Bob was an active member of First Evangelical Church in Memphis and Grace Evangelical Church in Germantown for the last 44 years.He loved classical music and for years would have his home filled with the sounds of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Sebelius and many other artists.Services will be held Saturday June 23rd at Grace Evangelical Church at 9750 Wolf River Blvd Germantown, TN. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm and a memorial service will be afterwards at 3:00 pm.
