Robert Perrin Oliver, Jr., M.D.'s Obituary
Robert Perrin Oliver, Jr., M.D., 81, passed away September 28, 2017. He was born June 24, 1936 in Mobile, AL to Margaret Hardee and Robert Perrin Oliver, Sr. His family later moved to Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Davidson College and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center – Memphis. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. He was a family doctor at Methodist Hospital and head of family practice. He taught medical students at St. Francis Hospital. He graciously and enthusiastically volunteered with Emmanuel Episcopal Center, Doctors Without Borders, Su Casa ESL, Page Robbins, and Blue Suede Shoes at the Memphis International Airport. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judith Meek Oliver; sons, David Oliver (Kristen) and Daniel Scruggs (Lisa); grandchildren, Sadie Oliver and Beatrix Oliver; sisters, Betsy Van Allen (George) and Randall Hunt (Carl). He was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Moncure. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 6 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 7 at Second Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations be sent to Page Robbins Adult Day Center.
