Robert Neely's Obituary
Robert Vernon Neely, 84, passed away October 22, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Neely was born in Perris, California in 1929, to Robert and Helen Neely. Bob leaves his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Gallina Neely; daughters, Natalie Parker-Lawrence (Cayce) and Teri Van Frank (James); grandchildren, Jamie R. Van Frank III, Ariel Parker, Neely Van Frank, Chuck Lawrence (Christine), Bobby Lawrence, Johnny Lawrence, David Lawrence(Casey Lane) and Jacob Lawrence, and great grandchild Brenden Lawrence. Mr. Neely was a former salesman for Westinghouse, a former instructor at State Technical Institute, and was a retired systems analyst at Shelby County Government. Bob served his country in the United States Navy for 4 years and was an active member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th Degree Knight. He and Dorothy enjoyed traveling, theater, and square dancing. He was a volunteer and communicant at The Church of The Holy Spirit. Bob truly enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, friends, and neighbors, and because he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, his loving grandchildren called him Cubbie. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held Friday, October 25, at 10:30, at The Church of The Holy Spirit. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Special thanks to all the medical professionals who cared for him.
