Robert Monsarrat's Obituary
Robert Edward Monsarrat, 91, passed away January 4, 2014. He was born to George and Gail Monsarrat on January 27, 1922 in Memphis, TN. A Central High School graduate, he earned a bachelorʼs degree in Business from Memphis State College after serving in WWII. A recipient of the Bronze Star, he survived the Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of Buchenwald in 1945. While attending Memphis State College, he was president of the Star and Crescent Club, which later became Kappa Sigma. Following a lifelong career in furniture sales and interior design, he worked part time at Mercury Valet Cleaners for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Gail; his brother, Col. George F. Monsarrat, and his sister, Virginia M. Piotter. He leaves his sister, Donna Monsarrat Clifton McAdams, his nieces Gail Elise Clifton Johnson and Marcia Clifton Faulhaber (Hans) all of Memphis and Pamela P. Baker of Seattle, WA and a nephew, Alan Moe Monsarrat of Austin, TX. He also leaves several beloved great nieces and nephews: Evie Johnson, Julian Johnson, Claire Faulhaber and William Faulhaber, all of Memphis. Visitation begins at Memorial Park on Monday, January 13 at 1:30, with services at 2:30.
