Robert S. McDow, Jr.'s Obituary
Robert S. McDow, JR., 92, peacefully passed away at his home April 23, 2010. A longtime Memphis Jeweler, he was born in Covington, TN on August 30, 1917. Mr. McDow was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mabel Delk McDow; his parents, Robert S. McDow Sr. and Lucy Cocke McDow; as well as seven siblings. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Robert S. McDow, III (Carol) of Nashville, C. Phillip McDow (Mary Ellen) of Memphis; three grandchildren, Robert S. McDow, IV (Janet) of Nashville, Laura A. McDow of Memphis, and Daniel P. McDow of New York City. He also leaves his longtime caregiver and friend, Willie Mae Bradford, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. McDow was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army in the Philippines. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, April 24 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 25 at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Amedisys Hospice or to the charity of their choice.
