Robert "Bob" McDaniel's Obituary
Robert Edward McDaniel, Jr., age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with his loving and devoted wife by his side in Knoxville, TN on September 12, 2016. A graduate of Central High School in Memphis, TN and a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War, he was Vice President of Hilb, Rogal & Hobbs and owner of Thomas Wellford & Sons before he retired. He was a charter member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Memphis, TN and a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN. He enjoyed his social and business activities in Memphis, TN as a member of the Chickasaw Country Club, The Racquet Club of Memphis, the Memphis Petroleum Club, the Summit Club, the Crescent Club and the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club in Palm Beach, FL. His service organizations include The Navy League of the United States, The American Legion, and the Memphis Junior Chamber of Commerce. He will be remembered mostly by his kind, energetic smile, cooking skills, love and zest for life and dancing, and his endearing devotion to his family. He was preceded in his passing by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Frances Hawkins McDaniel; parents Robert Edward McDaniel, Sr. and Bessie Combs McDaniel; sister Margaret Irene Bounds; mother and father-in-law Clarence and Clara Hawkins. He is survived by his current loving and devoted wife of 13 years, Patricia Anderson McDaniel in Knoxville, TN; his two daughters LeAnn McDaniel Marshall of Sevierville, TN and Robbie McDaniel Fromke of Pinehurst, NC; his four grandchildren Emily Ann Sills, Robert Roy Marshall, Anna Camille Arledge and Foster McDaniel Arledge. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 5:00-7:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to St. Jude Children’s’ Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Celebrating Life Behind the Stone Wall”.
