Robert Miles Mason, Sr.'s Obituary
Robert Miles Mason, Sr., age 60, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2026, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Miles was born on February 16, 1965, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late John Mason and Anne Mason. A proud Memphian through and through, he built a life rooted in family, service, and community.
Miles was the beloved husband of Sharon Mason, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage. Together they raised three children and built a life defined by laughter, partnership, and shared adventure. Above all else, Miles cherished his role as a husband, father, and grandfather, and his love for his family was evident in everything he did.
Professionally, Miles was a respected attorney, CPA, author, and nationally recognized speaker in the field of family law. He was the owner and managing member of the Miles Mason Family Law Group, PLC for sixteen years, and previously partnered with Alan Crone for fifteen years. Over the course of his career, Miles authored four books on family law, taught continuing education seminars across the country, and was frequently sought out by national and local media for his expertise. Known for his sharp mind and mentorship, Miles guided clients and colleagues alike through some of life’s most difficult moments with clarity, compassion, and steady resolve.
Miles was deeply committed to education and professional service. A graduate of Christian Brothers High School, he later served as President of the CBHS Alumni Association and was inducted into the Christian Brothers High School Hall of Fame. Being a Brothers Boy was a lifelong source of pride for him. Miles earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Alabama, where he developed a lifelong devotion to Crimson Tide football—remaining, by all accounts, one of its most enthusiastic fans. He also held leadership roles within the Tennessee Bar Association, American Bar Association, and numerous professional organizations, earning many honors throughout his career for legal excellence, writing, and service.
Outside of work, Miles was known for his quick wit, generosity, and love of life. He loved cigars, fine whiskey, good music, great books, and thoughtful conversation. He found joy in travel—especially trips with Sharon to Scotland, Disney World, and places rich with history—and treasured time spent with family and close friends. Wherever he went, Miles brought humor, insightful philosophy, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
Miles is survived by his wife, Sharon Mason; his children, Anne Mason, Miles Mason, Jr. (Catherine), and Abigail Mason; his brother, Patrick Mason; and his beloved grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Mason and Anne Mason; his brothers, John “Jack” Mason and Frank “Bubba” Mason; and his sister-in-law, Peggy Mason.
A Rosary will be held at 11:30 a.m., followed by visitation at 12:00 p.m., and a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Miles’s memory to Christian Brothers High School or the Orpheum Theatre Group. A meal train has also been established for those who would like to support the family during this time.
Miles lived life fully, with courage, humor, and heart, and his legacy will continue through the many lives he touched.
