Robert Arlie Ledbetter's Obituary
Robert Arlie Ledbetter, Jr., of Olive Branch, MS, formerly of Tiptonville, TN, passed into the presence of the Lord in the late morning of November 14, 2014 at the age of 83. He was born to Lucile and Robert A. Ledbetter, Sr. on November 30, 1930 in Memphis, TN. He went to Central High School and met Dorothy Mae Schmidt when he was 18 years old. They eloped in Hernando, MS after only one month of dating. Robert and Dorothy shared 65 years of marriage and were blessed with their children, Robert A. Ledbetter, III (Rebecca), Nancy Hurlburt (Preston), and Jamie Doyle (Kevin); grandchildren, Joshua, Claire, Robert, Rudy, Jessy, Leah, and Kristi; and great-grandchildren, Dalton, Hannah, Gage, Caleb, Hayleigh, Gabriel, Miles, Natalie, and Lucy. Robert was a 50 year, 32nd degree Mason. He was an avid fisherman and a passionate golfer, achieving a hole-in-one at the Holiday Inn golf course. Robert retired from Memphis Publishing Company after working as a printer for 29 years. He also worked 12 years as a correctional officer at Lake County and later Northwest County Corrections Facilities. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Sunday, November 16 and funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, November 17 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, his grandson, Rev. Joshua Hurlburt officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Mid-South Parkinson Foundation or the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House.
