Robert J. Lamere's Obituary
Robert J. Lamere, 89, recently of Germantown, Tennessee and formerly of Venice, Florida and Manchester, New Hampshire, died Sunday, January 28, 2018.Born in Ludlow, Vermont on February 13, 1928, Bob was the son of Benjamin and Vera Lamere. After graduating from Black River High School in Ludlow he served in the Army Signal Corps. While stationed in El Paso Texas, he met and became engaged to Zaida P. Daniels. They were married in 1951 and moved to Manchester New Hampshire to raise their children (Jan, Jennie and Paul). There he worked as an electrical engineer at the RD Brew company. In 2003 he and Zaida retired to Venice Florida, until Zaida’s death in 2016. In 2017, Bob moved to Germantown to live with his daughter Jan and her family.Bob will be remembered by his brother Benjamin of Manchester New Hampshire; by his children Janice Gallagher of Germantown, Tennessee, Jennie Angell of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Paul Lamere of Bath, Maine; his eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his nieces and nephews and extended family. Bob was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Tuomisto, and his brother Richard Lamere.Bob was active throughout his life. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, bicycling, skiing, scuba diving, kayaking and hiking. He enjoyed expressing himself creatively through painting, photography and writing. He enjoyed spending time at the seashore in New Hampshire and in Florida. He especially enjoyed his long conversations at the local coffee shop with his brother Ben.The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 1 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. with the service to follow immediately at 2:00 p.m. All services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
