Robert Wayne Kenney's Obituary
Robert Wayne (Bob) Kenney. age 77, resident of Hickory Withe, Tennessee and husband of Kathy Kenney for 38 years, departed
this life on Saturday morning, February 11, 2023 at Methodist Germantown Hospital.
Bob was born July 1, 1945 in Corpus Christi,Texas where his father was stationed in the US Navy. Bob spent his childhood years in Ohio. He spent his early adult years in the US Navy during
the Vietnam War. After honorable discharge, he lived in California, Texas, and Ohio before settling down in Memphis, Tennessee
where he met his wife, Kathy. He enjoyed careers in the avionics industry, trucking business, and financial services.
He retired from Raymond James Financial Services as a financial advisor in 2015.
Bob's life was so full of things he loved. In addition to his family and church, he loved playing golf and riding or working on his motorcycles.
He was a member and past president of both the Antique Motorcycle Club and the Hickory Withe Community Association.
Bob was a beloved member of Hickory Withe Presbyterian Church where he was a Ruling Elder. He loved serving the Lord and was very
active in his church. He loved singing in the choir, serving as the treasurer for the church, teaching Sunday School, and studying the Bible.
During his journey with cancer over the past year, the Bible verse that gave him strength and that he frequently quoted
was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
Bob leaves behind to cherish the wonderful memories of their life together, his wife Kathy Swain Kenney. He also leaves his
daughter Irene Kenney, daughter Sherri(Rick) Morgan, and son Troy Kenney, grandsons Ethan and Ryan Kenney, and granddaughters
Alex and Cecilia Morgan. He is also survived by his sisters Donna(Ralph) Hughes, Marilyn Smith, and Phillis(Bill) Jaccaud.
In addition, Bob was loved by his father-in-law Eddie Swain, sister-in-law Nancy(Gary) Toney, brother-in-law Mike(Amy) Swain and
Chuck(Maryann) Swain, and his precious puppy Penelope Garcia. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Joy Swain and his parents Mary and Elba Kenney. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation for Bob will be held Friday, February 17 from 10 AM to noon at Hickory Withe Presbyterian Church, 2420 Donelson Drive in Eads, TN with the memorial service at noon.
The graveside service will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave in Memphis, TN.
