Robert Franklin Kelly Jr.'s Obituary
Robert Franklin "Butch" Kelly, Jr. passed away June 8, 2024 at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, TN.
Butch, as he was lovingly known to his family, was a lifelong Memphian and resident of Bartlett, TN. After graduating with honors from Christian Brothers University, Butch enjoyed a fulfilling career as a systems analyst for Dobbs International in Memphis, and he spent time in his retirement with his family and beloved Schnauzer, Travis.
He is survived by his devoted sisters, Janice Kay (Kelly) King and Cynthia Ann (Kelly) Pearson, his loyal brother-in-law, Gerald (Jerry) Pearson, his loving nephews, William (Les) King, Jr., Samuel Pearson (Thehya), his loving niece Patty King, his great-nieces and nephews Nicholas King, Colette, Bonnie and Gregory Pearson, his best friend Lewis Jones, and numerous extended family members who loved him well and always rooted for him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Franklin Kelly, Sr., and Patty Sue (Mullins) Kelly, and his brother-in-law, William Leslie (Bill) King, Sr.
Butch had an incredible sense of humor, often saw the absurdity in life, and was always ready with a hilarious joke or a big smile. He was a gifted computer programmer, an avid John Prine fan, and his color commentary on the world around him often had his family in stitches. He was interesting, family-oriented, and loved trying new hobbies and activities. He will remain in our hearts forever.
Services will be held at the Memphis Memorial Park Funeral Home on July 12, 2024 at 2pm with visitation preceding the service at 1pm. The family asks that any gifts in memoriam be sent to the ever-deserving Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, TN, who showed Butch and our family a level of grace and mercy that made it possible for him to navigate his death with dignity, surrounded by loved ones. We are eternally grateful for their care.
