Robert Overton Jamison's Obituary
Robert Overton Jamison beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 22, 2010. He was born July 22, 1937, to Nathan O. and Evelyn Scott Jamison who preceded him in death. He leaves behind the love of his life, Lynne Durby Jamison; one daughter, Teri Nichols (JT); three sons, Robby (Karen), Scott (Tracey), Chris (Kristi); as well as fifteen grandchildren: Kelley, Justin, Heather, Trey, Hallie, Keri, SaraLynne, Will, George, Jessica, Caroline, Kate, Claire, Jarrod, and Chase. Bob was a longtime and active member of First Evangelical Church. He was an official with the Conference USA for 30 years and an NFL official in 2002. He presently worked as an NFL scout and was the play clock operator for the Tennessee Titans. He was involved in the National Football Hall of Fame and a former president of the Mid-South Fair. He retired from Jamison Pest Control and enjoyed playing golf. Bob was most happy when surrounded by his family or watching one of his grandchildren participate in an athletic event. He was “Papa J” to many and loved by all who knew him. He loved his Lord, his family, his friends and showed us all how to live. Heaven is a much fuller place with Papa J, but oh, how he will be missed here on earth. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 10:00-1:00, at First Evangelical Church, with the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical Christian School Scholarship Fund, Briarcrest Christian School Scholarship Fund or First Evangelical Church.
