Robert Gatewood's Obituary
Robert Gatewood, 76, passed away on December 3, 2011. He was born June 12, 1935 to Dallas L. and Thelma Carnes Gatewood. He was a lifelong Memphian, where he graduated from Messick High School and attended Memphis State University, before joining the Marine Corp. After returning home to Memphis from the Marines he started a career in real estate. He later became a project manager for over 30 years working for Allen and O’Hara, Medi-Centers, and Methodist Hospitals. Mr. Gatewood was an avid golfer and loved Memphis Tiger football and basketball. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Winfield Gatewood, two daughters, Bridget (Dan) Botto, Blair (Mike) Nash, son, Robert L. Gatewood, six grandchildren, Rachel, Michael, and Stephen Botto, Will and Anna Nash, and Samantha Fusco. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
