Robert C. "Bob" Turner's Obituary
Robert C. ‘Bob’ Turner, age 85, passed away Friday evening, December 11, 2015. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, December 13 and funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, December 14 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. A true southern gentleman, Bob was born in Huntsville, Al. His love for his country began as an Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He referred to it as “The University” where he was known as “Goof” which described his wit that entertained everyone in his life. He graduated as a 2nd Lt. from ROTC and served the Army in Seoul, Korea earning a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. His career spanned over 50 years in building material sales and management at Armstrong and Fischer, Lime, and Cement. His love for gardening led him to become a master gardener, which brought him joy for the last 15 years. Bob was a faithful member of White Station Church of Christ beginning in 1961 where he happily served many roles. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth, his daughter, Karen Turner Dannreuther; former son-in-law, John Dannreuther; granddaughters, Drew Dannreuther Ankerman (Erik) of Anaheim, CA and Paige Dannreuther of Portland, OR.; along with his honorary daughters, Lou Diffee Gattas and Lea Diffee Hetherington (Rick). He was loved by everyone who met him and will be missed by all. ROLL TIDE!
