Rob A. Newcomb's Obituary
Robert Allen Newcomb passed away peacefully on May 21, 2018. Robert was born August 22, 1918. He was 3 months short of his 100th birthday. He was a member of Mullins United Methodist Church and a resident of Kirby Pines Retirement Community. Robert was a World War II veteran, where he earned two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was one of the last survivors of the D-Day Normandy Invasion. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Brooxie Williams Newcomb and sisters, Alliene Newcomb and Mary Katherine Baker. He is survived by his daughter, Gwen Jones (Milton); son, Allen Newcomb (Jackie); grandchildren, Shannon Cleveland, Garland Smith, Virginia Newcomb, Joseph Newcomb, and Heather Heartfield; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. and a service celebrating his life will follow at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 24 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.
