Rick McDade's Obituary
Richard Warren McDade, known to many as Rick and later as Pockey Day, was born in Memphis, TN, on April 25, 1945, and stepped into eternity in the arms of Jesus on February 16, 2025. Rick is survived by his beautiful wife of sixty-one years, Barbara, with whom he built a life and family together, spanning two continents and more than six decades in places as far away as Pasto, Colombia, until they returned from the mission field and put down roots in Memphis in 1983. Answering the call again, Rick began serving as a Chaplain for Baptist Memorial and Trinity Hospice, where he served patients and families of Memphis for 34 years, praying for and accompanying them in their grief. His three children, Julie (Jimmy), Mark (Shannon), and Paul (Angie), along with his seven grandchildren, Sierra, Nicolas, Summer, Kate, Mia, Connor, and Drew are just part of the legacy of love that he helped build during his almost 80 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Louise McDade, and leaves behind three loving sisters: Barbara King, Beverly Crook, and Sue Jordan. The beautiful life he lived as one who served the cause of Christ in word and deed will live on in the countless lives he touched with his gentle nature, extraordinary kindness, and hearty laughter.
