Richard Porter Terry, age 78, of Memphis, TN, passed away August 15, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends.Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Caldwell; daughter, Rebecca Terry Gieselmann (Kent Gieselmann, Jr.) of Memphis, and daughter, Jennifer Hernandez of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter, Courtney Austin, and grandson, Lorenzo Hernandez, both of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter, Vance Caldwell Gieselmann, grandson, Crews Kent Gieselmann, and granddaughter, Machin Lea Gieselmann, all of Memphis, Tennessee; sisters Ann Knox (Jack Knox) and Katie Howse (Grover Howse) of Memphis, Tennessee.He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance Porter Terry and Eula Williams Terry of Memphis, Tennessee. Richard was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Memphis.Richard met his bride of 55 years, Marilyn Caldwell, as teenagers at Temple Baptist Church in Memphis and they were married on June 8, 1963. Richard graduated from Central High School and later from Christian Brothers University, where he received a degree in electrical engineering. Along with two partners, Richard started R.T. Electrical Sales representing various lines of electrical products and capacitors. Richard loved his work, and, more importantly, he loved the relationships with many people that he developed through his work. He never retired.Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and many people were fortunate to call him their friend. He also loved to play golf and dote on his grandchildren. Services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery at 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN., 38119. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, August 17 at 12:30 p.m. until his funeral service begins at 1:30 p.m., both at at Hope Presbyterian Church at 8500 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, Tennessee 38018. The interment will follow at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery at 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN., 38119.
