Richard Kern Fisher, Jr. "Rick"'s Obituary
In Loving Memory of Richard Kern Fisher, Jr. (“Rick”)
Richard Kern Fisher, Jr. (“Rick”) passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
Rick was born on October 25, 1957, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Richard Kern Fisher, Sr. and Adela Jane Agosto Fisher. Because his father served in the United States Navy, Rick’s family moved frequently throughout his childhood. He lived in Okinawa, Gaeta, Italy, Norfolk, Virginia, San Diego, California, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and on the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii, where he spent many of his formative years.
His father’s final duty station was in Millington, Tennessee, and the family made their home in nearby Bartlett, Tennessee, where Rick completed his education at Nicholas Blackwell (Bartlett) High School as a member of the Class of 1975.
After high school, Rick proudly followed in his father’s footsteps by enlisting in the United States Navy. He completed boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois, and served aboard the USS John F. Kennedy. He later completed his military service at Millington Naval Air Station, where he worked as an Air Traffic Controller. Rick was deeply proud of his military service and carried that sense of duty, honor, and commitment throughout his life.
Following his service, Rick attended Memphis State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He went on to enjoy a successful career and recently retired from Medtronic, Inc. in Memphis, where he worked as a Senior Program Manager.
Rick leaves behind his beloved wife of seven years, Patricia Ann Chavez Fisher, with whom he enjoyed traveling the world. He especially loved cruising throughout the Caribbean and was in the process of planning a month-long Mediterranean cruise, including stops in Italy, Spain, Tangier, and Morocco, to celebrate his 70th birthday. Rick was always ready for his next adventure.
In addition to his wife, Rick is survived by his children, Dr. Richard “Trey” Kern Fisher III (Lauren) and Ashley Nicole Fisher; his stepdaughter, Victoria Warner; and his four cherished grandchildren, Harper and Jordan Fisher, and Lyla and Relic Toro.
As the eldest of six children, Rick held a special place in the hearts of his siblings: Debra Lynn Nichols (Kenneth) of Iuka, Mississippi; Jeffrey Alan Fisher (James Vlasaty) of Eads, Tennessee; Cynthia Ann McKinney (Harold) of Ponte Vedra, Florida; and David Michael Fisher (Tracie) of Arlington, Tennessee. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Shawn Nichols, Kameron Fisher, Luke Fisher, Drew Fisher, and Skyler McKinney.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Adela Fisher; his grandparents, Edwin and Eneica Fisher and Ventura and Margaret Agosto; and his brother, Douglas Edwin Fisher.
Rick’s legacy extends far beyond his immediate family. He leaves behind a large and loving extended family throughout the Hawaiian Islands, Pennsylvania, and across the country. Among those mourning his passing are Tammy Dawn Fisher, the mother of his children, and her family, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and friendship.
Rick was a devoted family man who loved sharing stories of his childhood and the adventures of his large, lively, and close-knit family. Whether through his love for family or the friendships he cultivated throughout his life, Rick left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Rick believed in Jesus Christ and is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. His memory will live on in the stories we share, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely.
Rick was a good man, a loving husband, father and grandfather, a devoted older brother, and a loyal friend. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
