Richard Leslie Doyle's Obituary
Richard Leslie Doyle, 64, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on March 4, 2026.
A natural leader with a strong work ethic, Richard spent much of his career managing multiple restaurants, where he was known for his ability to lead teams and connect with people. He was a truly kind soul who never met a stranger; he could, and often did, talk to anyone and everyone, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. In addition to his years in the restaurant industry, he held several other roles throughout his life, eventually finding fulfillment as an Auctioneer.
Beyond his professional life, Richard was a man of many talents and curiosities. He was an exceptional cook and a formidable chess player. A true movie buff and a lifelong learner, he found great joy in the study of history and the logic of mathematics. Above all, Richard was a devoted grandfather; his grandchildren were, without question, the highlight of his life and his greatest source of pride.
In recent years, Richard walked a path of deep personal reflection and renewal. With great strength and courage, he rededicated himself to his faith and found a sense of peace and structure through the Salvation Army. He often described this time as a chance to catch his breath, growing closer to God and finding comfort in his Bible studies and the community that surrounded him. His journey of recovery and his unwavering hope were a testament to his character.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stan Doyle (Mona) and Steve Brown; his paternal grandparents, Jewell and Marguerite Doyle; and his maternal grandparents, Grover and Mary Cox. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Marie Doyle; his children, Richard Doyle II and Emily Brock (Kieran); his grandchildren, Cooper, Caleb, Avery, Kaiden, Ivy, Madelyn, Kessler, Darrian, and Christian; his sisters, Diane Gordon (Matt) and Sherry Leslie; his niece, Chelsea Byars (Joshua); and his nephews, Kristopher Gordon (Ashley) and Davis Gordon; as well as a host of beloved great-nieces and nephews.
Following his wishes, a cremation will take place at Memorial Park Crematory in Memphis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army in Richard’s honor, to support the mission that provided him with so much strength and community.
