Reuben Arthur "Pete" Peterson's Obituary
Reuben Arthur “Pete” Peterson, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully May 10, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Born Aug. 3, 1923, Pete grew up in Northport, MI. He worked in Detroit for a short time before serving his country for three years in the Army during World War II. He worked for General Electric Company for 36 years retiring as the zone manager for the Contract Sales Division. Pete was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church for 49 years. He also was very active in retirement as a member of the White Station Optimist Club for 35 years. He received the Jefferson Award in 2008 for his years of volunteer service for the American Cancer Society and Crossroads Hospice. He also served on a number of committees at Kirby Pines Retirement Community. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte Walters Peterson; his sons Eric (Barbara) of Columbia, Mo.; David (Cindy) of Germantown, Tenn.; and Tim (Cindy) of Charlotte, N.C. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren: Erin, Sara, David, Christopher, Tyler, Christian, Kelsey and Taylor. He is also survived by his brother Norman Peterson of Traverse City, MI and several nephews and nieces. Visitation is Monday, May 13 from 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, May 14 at St. Louis Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Kirby Pines Foundation.
