Renna J. Burnett's Obituary
Renna J. Burnett, 91, passed away peacefully on October 21. Born of Clyde and Mary Lucille Joyner in Union City, TN, she was known for her engaging personality and beaming smile, and was a wonderful example of sacrificial love and a welcoming heart. Her kitchen was always open to friends and neighbors, as well as every neighborhood kid wanting something to eat. Even though Memphis was home for over 50 years, she never left her roots of Obion County, TN where she she felt the sun rose and set. Although unable to attend church in her later years, she was a longtime member of Lindenwood Christian Church, where she volunteered for virtually every task needed. Second only to her Christian faith, her family never left her home needing food or a warm hug. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Forrest Burnett and sisters Mary Lou Huffstutter and Martha Joyner, and is survived by son Jim Burnett and daughter in law Dee, whom she considered a daughter. Her pride and joy were her four grandchildren, James, Gracey, Scott, and Drew. A bright spot in any day for her was when the grandchildren came to see her or there was an event she could attend. Visitation will be Thursday the 22nd from 5-7 pm. with a service on Friday October 23rd at 11:30. All services will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donation be made to the First Christian Church in Union City, TN or to the charity of the donors choice.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, Tennessee 38119. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
