Renee King Bora's Obituary
RENEE KING BORA, died February 10, 2014 in Mission Viejo, CA. She had been a resident of California since 1988. Renee was born September 12, 1955 in Somerville, TN. She lived in Grand Junction, TN until moving with her family to Memphis, TN in 1963. She graduated from Overton High in 1973 and from Memphis State University in 1977 with a B.A. degree in Nursing. Renee worked as a nurse in many different areas during her career. One job that she always remembered fondly was her time as a labor and delivery nurse at John Gaston Hospital (The Med). Renee developed health problems in 1990 at the age of 34 which required her to receive the first heart-lung transplant in the San Diego area. After her miraculous recovery, she lived for another 24 years making her one of the longest living heart-lung transplant recipients. After her transplant, Renee continued an active life. In her marriage ceremony to Brian Bora, she was given away by the mother and father of the transplant donor, Mr. and Mrs. Straeter. Renee was able to travel to many conventions giving inspirational talks and was able to participate in the transplant olympics in Atlanta in 1994. She had been an active member of Grace Hills Church in Aliso Viejo, CA. Renee leaves her husband, Brian Bora of Mission Viejo, CA; three brothers, Mark King (Sandra) of Franklin, TN, Lee King (Noreen) of Irvine, CA, and Rodney King (Mary) of Collierville, TN, and many nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly and will truly miss her. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Roy and Shirley King. The family requests memorials be sent to Grace Hills Church, Aliso Viejo, CA.
